English courses for porters, Arandu (Pakistan)

English courses for porters, Arandu (Pakistan)

During our 2nd visit to Baltistan (Pakistan) in summer 2018 we realized, that many of the porters of the village Arandu did not speak English at all. During our expedition it became obvious, that communication is very difficult with the local people.

With the help of a teacher of the village Arandu we therefore organized an English course for the porters and highporters of that village. The course takes place in the school rooms of Arandu from November to February during winter months. During this time, the children do not visit school. The course is is financed by the Swiss Sherpa Foundation  and all porters from the village can visit the course free.
